Stepping on two feet

Step 1

Qianting, aka Dragonfly, was born with a congenital birth defect that prevented his lower left foot from developing. He was living in an orphanage with little chance of being fitted with a prosthesis. Without the ability to walk properly, his overall health would eventually suffer.

Step 2

Recipient of CCPF’s Humanitarian Award, Vincent Benenati, provides free prosthesis and orthotics for children we treat who have congenital birth defects or have amputated limbs. Vinny examined Dragonfly’s leg and foot and customized the prosthesis on the spot so the fit would be as natural as possible.

Step 3

A few weeks later, Vinny returned to see how Qianting was doing. He was walking well, on two feet for the first time in his life, and had become an ‘ambassador ‘ of his orphanage. Not long after, he was adopted!
